My first assignment to a client brief
Last week we were set the task of shooting a general household item using only a background to try to make it look interesting.
The brief was to shoot the item at three different angles using the same background. As you can see from the image to the left of this text, I chose to shoot some measuring spoons. This I chose for several reasons, the first being that it is hard to light and make brushed steel look attractive.
I have used a wooden chopping board because I think the two materials stand out against each other, and also they have different textures.
As you can see I have used a key light from the right hand top corner to try and generate some shadows and also burnt out part of the spoons at the top, creating a more interesting image.
This contrast in lighting i feel helps to dive depth to the image. I have also used a fill light at the left hand side at the front of the image to try and make the spoons look more appealing.
